Is hair color haram?
By NaseebSupport
About User: Female, 31, Minnesota
Is it correct that dying hair is prohibited in Islam? I recently got my hair dyed to a vibrant shade of red and my husband totally freaked out as he says that not only dyeing hair is prohibited in Islam but the reddish tone is highly in appropriate as it is associated with devil in so many cultures.
I researched on the internet and have found contradictory views as some say it is haram while others say it is permissible to dye your hair in nay color but black. Can anyone tell me what the significance of not allowing black dye is? Moreover some people say that dyeing hair is not allowed but you can apply henna to your hair. If it is true, then doesn’t henna give your hair a reddish tint as well? My husband has not spoken to me in 2 days and he insists that I get my hair re-dyed to its original tone.
I really love my new hair color so if I can get some insight on the Islamic point of view with some references it would be a lot of help.

where? among the wahabi sheik bin baz al saud of saudi arabia? gimme a break. THE ONLY REASON THEY CLAIM IT IS CUZ NO ONE WANTS TO FOLLOW THIER CRAZY CULT OF FANATICS. and that sufi islam is waay more popular thanks to the use of music! for example: www.youtube.com or even sami yusuf! notice what he is singing here, ma la qul mulk, la shareekala hoo, la illah allah illa hoo.
and no dying your hair is not 'haram', after all people die thier grey hairs and beards red and thats called 'sunnah'.

I was told by my dad a long time ago that our prophet used to put henna on his hair and its sunna for people to do the same.
I guess thats why so many people look like a leprechaun in pakistan with red beards and wearing green and all."
BINGO! i was thinking the exact same thing aman. this is the problem when you start declaring any old thing 'haram', when nothing says so. take music for example. unless the quran specifically states it is haram, basically it is open to interpretation.

I also know that your marriage can be annulled if you don't tell your real age to the person you're marrying as thats deceit.

what the hell lol......how can one hide one's age by dying their hair????
and if you're referring to colouring one's greys/silver then that has nothing to do with age, its genetics.

is this for real? lol
