  • On the theoretical side of this step, training Muslim women to work in the field of Da?wah (caller to Islam) may need to consider the following aspects: - Educational preparation through providing a good presentation of appropriate materials. - Psychological preparation by ensuring that the women callers have faith in Allah, sincerity, hopefulness, pride in Islam, patience and knowledge of the conditions and environments of those they are addressing. - Social preparation by having the women callers t... • ROOTS OF THE PROBLEM: Many obstacles and restraints have been the causes behind the weakness and neglect of Da?wah work amongst women. Once they have been recognised and analysed, viable solutions can be sought and implemented. One major reason is that many men are not convinced about the importance of women?s role and responsibilities in the field of Da?wah. The Qur?anic verse (which means) ?And abide in your houses...? has been misinterpreted by many, and so has the concept of ?Qawaamah?, or ... Read More

  • English translation by Hazrat Abdullah Yusuf Ali The best English Translantion I have read so far, has spiritual transliteration as an added benefit to those who are exploring deeper meanings. Brings out new meanings even if you have read translations and tafseers in urdu. A must read. Quran is far more modern and superior to our times, even when we think it was revealed centuries ago, it is still too far ahead in time and space. After all it IS THE WORD OF GOD Friends! dont waste time, read, learn, ap... Read More

  • It's impossible to dissociate Corinne Bailey Rae's second album The Sea from the 2008 accidental death (by overdose) of her husband Jason Rae. ~ The Sea www.youtube.com ~ I'll do it all again www.youtube.com There are suggestions that The Sea is Bailey Rae's To Black are wide of the mark: this no strident, brassy outpouring of grief, rather a thoughtfoul consideration of the strange ways in which grief and faith work, with the raw edges count... • Mystical Dimension of Islam by Annemarrie Schimmel is a must read for initiates on the path of sufism or anyone who would like a comprehensive review on the topic, and introduction to the ideologies followed by various sufi saints. Very well written, thoroughly researched, easy to understand. Has quotations of Quranic verses, which I have personally referred to during my study and found to be exactly in accordance to the text. Enjoy!!

  • **By Latiefa Achmat** Here's an article to ponder over. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Being entertained and the feeling that it is your right to be entertained are modern day phenomena. 150 years ago the young people would have demanded that it was their right not to starve to death or not to be killed in some bloody battlefield. But things change and man?s greed knows no bounds. And here we are again in 2007, and the young people are still demanding, and the older people are still greedy and w... Read More

  • No child is born evil. But they are creatures of their parents and of circumstance. Children who commit violent crimes almost always share a similar background. Their parents are poorly educated, unemployed and often suffer from depression or other mental health problems; many are drug abusers or on the fringes of criminality. They often have large families but are also divorced or separated. An authoritative survey of the mental health of young offenders published in the British Journal of Psychiatr... Read More

  • Two young brothers who tortured a 9 year-old and an 11-year-old boy were today sentenced to an indeterminate period in custody. Sentencing them at Sheffield Crown Court, the judge told them they would serve a minimum of 5 years. The judge had spent two days listening to harrowing accounts of how the 2 brothers, then aged 10 and 11, lured their victims to a secluded spot and subjected them to 90 minutes of violence and sexual humiliation in Edlington, South Yorkshire, in April 2009. The victims were: - ... Read More
