Our Ummah

To the Naseebers who do not know me.

I joined Naseeb in 2006 and one of my first articles about the problems that our Ummah meet was posted on 13 January 2007.
The following article is its repost.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~
As-salamu alaikum Sisters and Brothers in Islam,
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah (SWT) and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger (SAW).
In the first place, we earnestly implore Allah, to guide us all to the best and to grant Muslims every success, power and strength for the years to come. Ameen.
The weakness that has befallen to the Muslim Ummah is obvious to ALL of US.
It is shown at all levels: political, economic and social.
The Prophet (SAW) clarified that we would become weak due to running after the worldly pleasures and many other things. The main reason for this is the moral deterioration our Ummah is suffering from.
Muslims have lost their power and become a weak nation because Faith has often no place in their lives and behaviour.
A very large number of Muslims follow Islam in name only. They become Muslims because their families are so or because they were born in a Muslim country by Muslim parents. Sadly, those same Muslims lack Strength in Faith and Enthusiasm to follow the Islamic Teachings.
Could our people who are in such a feeble state manage to revive their power and restore their strength?
In fact the Prophet (SAW) referred to the causes that would weaken the Ummah and belittle it in the eyes of its enemies. With the elapse of time, the Prophet's words in that regard have proven to be true.
Also the Prophet (SAW) said, ?Nations are about to scheme against you in the same way as greedy eaters vie with one another at the dining table.? One of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all) asked:
?O Messenger of Allah! Will that relate to being few in numbers?? The Prophet said, ?No, but your huge number will be of little effectiveness and (Allah) will cast al-wahan in your hearts.? They said, ?O Messenger of Allah, what does al-wahan mean?? He said, ?Your hearts are strongly attached to the luxuries of life and you feel a strong aversion to death.?
The real problems Muslims are Suffering from is a Moral and a Spiritual one.
But this is no more than a Reflection to Our Main Problem, that is, Our Moral and Faith Deterioration that will bring Betterment of Our Ummah.
The spread of pornography and foul language along with the spread of intoxicants and drugs among the Youth are added to the weaknesses of Our Ummah.
The easy purchase of destructive drugs substances by hundreds of millions of people reflects another aspect of the great moral degeneration we are suffering from.
Many Muslims have, unfortunately, turned to be USELESS. They speak and do not act; They import and do not produce. They are passive receivers. They imitate others and do not try to devise something themselves. In a word, They destroy not build; They sink into oblivion not revive.
All what I have said emphasizes that our very task to overcome all our problems is to Revive our Faith and Moral Ethics and Breathe Life so that we can Restore Our Abilities to Act and Help others and Our Ummah progress. We will also be able to impart our knowledge with children.
Our Ummah is in needs of a New Spirit that can Revive it and Change its view towards Life and Things, so that it can get rid of the state of dependence it suffers from and Become Productive itself.
We should combat selfishness, opportunism, defeatism, favoritism, extreme materialism and all forms of cheating and deterioration in the fields of trade, culture, education, policy, human rights...et cetera.
We should combat such devices in the same way as our previous generations of Scientists combated chronic diseases like bilharzia, tuberculosis, lepra etcetera.
We, moreover, should Deal with such Vices with More Seriousness than we treat such diseases with.
Salaam
