I am writing to you with the hope of eliciting some information. As you know, the earthquake in Kashmir has been devastating to the lives of thousands of people. In this hour, we need to organise ourselves and help these people. I am interested in mobilising funds to aid the victims of this tragedy. I was wondering if there is some organisation or individual in Bangalore who I can contact who is doing similar efforts. Also, if anyone else is interested in doing similar work, please do contact me at m.a.shariff AtTheRate lse.ac.uk

Also, I do not know of any credible grassroot organisations which are working in Jammu and Kashmir in earthquake relief. I was wondering if any of you know of any such organisations or individuals working in Kashmir and can please put me in contact with them. I shudder at the thought of the Kashmiri people exposed to the harsh weather with absolutely no shelter and food. Inshallah, we must all do our best to help them in their hour of need.

I am appalled by the lack of any information on how to get relief through to the affected areas. I also noticed that much effort is being put by our Pakistani brethren to help the victims, but we it seems are lagging behind. We must not forget that more than a thousand people have lost their lives in India and many more have lost everything they had.

If you have any other ideas and suggestions regarding this, please do put them down.
