The deification of humans seems like an obvious pitfall. This leaves to us Islam among the world's major religions. And really Islam isn't a novel thing -- its the old religion of the ancients rekindled by our Prophet... All it says is "It's God, stupid." :)

According to a Harvard study, almost 95 percent of human beings follow their parent's religion. The study further revealed that almost all of them believe that their religion is the "best" without even studying other religions with the same passion. What do you think? Does this analysis justify the notion that the concept of "the best religion" is frail in itself? Or you think that the concept is still important and relevant? Or for that matter, how much role your parent?s religion has played in the selection of your religion? Do you think you would have followed your ?best religion?, if your parents were followers of different religion?

ok well, ye are trying to make me think already there's no intellectuals here. I am not TOO. We all are, or we are'ntBut it seems you were right in a sense that, I'm not going to get my question answered, which is sad. Boo hoo! MAN. That would have been a nice quote. I couldnt find any reference in Google to harvard and religion and 95. I think the owner of this group Wish3 made it up.
I hate to write the folks in Harvard - I almost was going to but I thought it'd be wasting their time. If what Wish3 says is true, we would have heard of it in more places.

DrScratch,HUH? No one has to be a freaking amatuer freaking Social scientist to be able to talk about these things. I simply asked for the reference.
If I claimed that a Harvard study claimed that 95% of people with nicknames starting the "Dr" are frigging morons - or anything of the sort, would you not ask for a reference? );
If not, then yes - this Harvard study is also true. Dont ask me now for a reference.

has added a new journaldid education and rational thought and/or certain thinkers make you think twice about religion and the role/concept of "god" as society has ordained/ingrained it/him into our lives/mind?
for me, my undergraduate education just shattered my belief in god. especially after studying about so many religions combined with philosophy as my major, it was hard to cling onto the beliefs i was raised under.

has added a new journalreligion is what it is in the end. but in the beginning, there were thousands of them. it can be argued that they have just evolved to what we have today. and after thousands of years more, all of the religions of today will vanish just like those of yestercenturies and millenia.
many people have a hard time confronting the possibility that there may not be a heaven or an afterlife. we can believe what we want and we can make that belief into a reality for ourselves.
