01 bmw 330i trade for what?

silver, 4d, let's say it's got average miles, good condition. I haven't looked up what it's worth now but I'm sure whatever it is will break my heart.

if you were willing to put a a few thousand more dollars down and trade in the car, what car would you trade this in for? I want ideas. Something young and fun, but not totally unreliable.

I spent the evening at the Audi dealership today...

IF goin' w/ a pre-owned Audi, make it an A4.

IF an A4, get the sport-package (lower suspension, spoiler, front-rear skirt, side moldings)

IF sport-package, then get the 1.8T w/ 5spd manual.

IF going w/ the 5spd manual, get the Quattro.

FYI: Pre-owned certified 2002 A4 (details above) w/ 20k miles - warranty till 2008/100k miles, dealer asking: $19k

2005/2005.5 models are around, so lotsa trade-ins lately for Audi's.

Just food-for-thought!

my tl's interior is hot- i have no complaints after 12k miles. i used to be a designer @ honda and am biased to honda/acuras. my tl is stock...

the new tl is super duper hot to drive as well, but only if it has the a-spec package (they tighten the suspension, lower it a bit, add nicer rims and a body kit). the only problem is that it costs about 8-10k more than a basic tl. also, the tl interior isnt up to par...leather tears and scratches very easily.

Juan_pablo: The accord/nsx comment was a joke.

oh and hondas have 'knee bolsters' which are energy absorbing crush boxes so that your knees dont take high impact loads. im not sure if every oem does that- but i know that honda does.

i find it hard to believe that the accord v6 is like the nsx in drive/handling since the nsx is a mid engine car w/ good weight balance vs. accord that is frt wheel drive, frt end heavy. given that the nsx is 12+ yrs old i can understand that the power is not all there but its weight/balance is probably better than accord.

I heard the Accord V6 drives like an NSX from knowledgeable Naseebers!! (i know at least 2 people that will laugh at that)

Personally, I wouldn't mind buying a new or used Honda or Toyota (yes I know i am overly biased... buts its for a good reason. Cuz they rock. Also I am brown so I am partial to Accords and Camry's....) I don't think the depreciation is as killer as everyone says. But you don't seem to mind so you can save some cash buy buying something thats a couple years old.

Other questions to ask yourself: How long am i going to keep this car? (Build quality and reliability comes into play) Are after-market mods a consideration? Are you going for bling/individuality or sensibility? Either is fine, you just need to decide. Answering these questions can help.

That is damn nice of Saab to reposition the key to save my knees, I will no longer make fun of it....

oh yeah im not a big fan of bmws. ive driven them in the states and in germany and they're just a step below audi in quality/fun and more expensive (for cars only)

so here is my top choices for cars around 30k (and less)

1. acura TL w/o navi- or TSX w/ navi- the acura navis are best on teh market (i only know bmw, lexus, acura, audi navis)
2. used lexus IS300- can be had for mid 20s- im not a fan of buying a car in its first yr of production.
3. audi a4 (interior is cool, reliability?)
4. chrysler300- exterior is tight- interior is okay
5. used mb clk320 can be had for mid 20s (put teh 430 rims on it and it looks hot)
6. nissan 350Z- brand new is around 26k
7. new civic SI- this deserves to be here even though its first yr production. 200hp/navi/sweet styling/interior will blow people away

im curious what u will end up getting. let us know what youre leaning towards.

btw i have a '05 tl, 95 accord

Moniker How much is a 2 y/o TL?

Howabout you look that up yourself?!? sheesh...

Yea, the 2006 Accord sedan was "refreshened" & the rear tail-lights look much more clean/sophisticated now. I personally think the Accord EX-L is where it's at, the V6 offered is a slug for the added cost (alot $$$, too). If you're pining for a V6, get the TL- it's the Accord's over-achieving sibling.

06 accord v6, eh? I'm not a big fan of buying new cars though. I'd rather get a 2 years used something. I have this idea that's where the price cusp is. How much is a 2 y/o TL? 02 m3 is probably more than I really need. I'm not exactly too into cars.

Buy a used 02 m3...You can get a good deal around 32k or so

i like the styling of the new 3-series as well, but like all the other recent new BMWs, the color and wheel selection makes or breaks the look of the car. i somehow find the simpler 325i, with blacked-out window trim and smaller alloy wheels, more attractive than the 330i, which i feel is a bit overdone. i saw a steel gray 325i and it looked rather nice. the new 3-series does look smaller than the old one, however.

if it were my money, i wouldn't necessarily get a SAAB either due to the reliability concerns, although my cousin felt otherwise.

the TL is a nicer car than the TSX, but it'll cost you several thousand dollars more. you get what you pay for.

i know i'll get a few sneers for this, but i'm a fan of the 2006 accord ex v6. they cleaned up the styling of the back end, so it looks much better than last year's model. it's also a very accomplished car for the money.

wasif20, SAAB locates the ignition key hole in the center console because the driver's right knee would end up with a potentially significant injury if the car encountered a front-end impact. picture the knee impacting a set of keys (as opposed to an impact-absorbing dashboard) with great force. the downside is that the key in the center console takes up precious space for, say, a cupholder or two.

well I dont' want to spend that much becuase I'm not really not the car enthusiast (I joined the village to see what car enthusiasts had to say).

but say I wanted to spend 25-27k on a car no more than 2-3 years used. I also don't want to step down too far quality wise from my 3 series.. I dont know about the tsx but I'll have to look it up

I think the new 3 series bodies are nice actually...

well if u wanna go in the low 30's, the 2006 lexus is 250 is pretty awesome. even the base model is pretty luxurious. the 350 is a rocket, but it will cost u about 4 to 5 k more.

LOL @ ignant...

I think the TSX rocks!!! I drove it around for a bit, and for the money - the luxury and performance you get is impressive.

I am not a huge fan of SAAB because of their unreliablity. Performance wise, they are pretty tight - fun to drive for sure, and different from the sheep cars that everyone likes to drive (WHY IS THE KEY IN THE MIDDLE THOUGH????)

If I went German i would stick with beamers.... i personally think they are better built, a lot more prestige, luxury and basically a lot more car for a little more money. Plus, VW are still costly to repair..... just my 2 and half cents...

ITM786: SAABs are closer to the mainstream than they've ever been. The last "pure" SAAB was the 900, which was discontinued in 1993. Yes, there was a new 900 in 1994 that looked like a true SAAB, but it was based on a GM Opel platform and was rather ordinary by comparison.

MONIKER: If you don't mind a 4-cyl engine and a manual transmission, I've read that the Acura TSX is supposedly a very fine drive. The new VW Passat seems like a nice ride as well... granted, it won't be as sporting a car as the 3-Series, but at least it should provide you with that German ride and drive. I'd still check out that Legacy GT, though. Let us know what you end up getting.

great suggestions so far.

yeah I drive my car a lot so I have more miles than I probably should. I'm hoping to get $22k for my car and maybe spend a few thousand more.

What other suggestions do you have for a $25k-$27k car?

bostongirl is right, it's not about the prestige, it's about the ride. Nothing handles like a german car. It can't be about the prestige anyway - every wannabe yuppie has a 3 series these days :)
