I know! I'm planning on visiting family there in a few weeks. My mother's copied my cinderblock raised bed, and I plan on going down there.. and giggling at her!

However, you get to grow more cold-weather items in Co. If I tried to grow lettuce or broccoli or cauliflower right now, it would already be bolting. I have a good book on rocky mt gardening in my library, by the way. Sort of a microclimate by the mountains, I think.

In Colorado, you don't get much of anything till late July. I'm jealous.

Zone 6, nearly 7 (Oklahoma). I used to live in Denver, and I'd usually put out the transplants around May 12th or so. So, this is an interesting change since my move. Imagine what growing would be like in Texas or Florida (lettuce would be out, though)

Show us some photos, black_belt. want to see what you're growing.

What okra variety? Have you ever had those teeny Egyptian Okras from the mid east stores? I'd like to find some seeds for those, all I have are the huge spiney slime-okras...

Wow ... I just planted my tomatoes, pepers, & Summer Squash. I am about to plant cucumber and Okra seeds. My spring peas still don't have flowers. Summer sure comes fast where you live.
