Ditto--I think having soo much activity going on in the city on top of what we already have (parades, conventions etc) would be a security nightmare!

Olympic games should be brought into towns no one knows about, so they get at least some publicity. Would you have knows about Calgary or Lillihammer if not for the Olympics? Big cities have enough of sporting events, and other events for that matter, to gather a crowd.

2012 games should have been given to Omaha, Nebraska or Columbus, Ohio.

The Olympics time and again prove to be a money losing (or not profitable) situation for the host city. New York doesn't need a bunch of new facilities that will turn into abandoned buildings down the road. I mean let's face it, it's a matter of time before the Guiliani effect wears off and crime goes back to the levels it was at in the early 1990s.

Hamza: But hell, if I'm living here and renting an apartment in 2012 you can feel free to use one of your designer shoes and give me swift kick in the nuts.

new york doesnt have the facility to host olympics, city it self is over crowded mind you the alerts we get for no apparent reason....its good we didnt get to host the olympics, it would've definately been a nightmare...things happen for a reason so make the most of it...cheers to all the mates in london, enjoy the olympics and party hard =)

I agree with Batakia.
Plus dont we have enough things to worry about here (yellow alert..etc...)
Why would would anyone want to stick their hands in a lions cage ????? Let London have the olympics! More power to them.
