3 Muslim Artists and Their Work
On April 16, 2005 there was an artshow in Virginia showcasing the work of three young Muslim artists.
A little about the artists:
Aasil Ahmad:
Aasil Ahmad's forays into the world of photography began in the early years of his childhood. His family's frequent moves impressed upon him the transient nature of his surroundings and encouraged him to captue the subtle beauty of his proasic life. While living in Fez, Aasil expanded his repertoire of art to include calligraphy, and continues his studies of the Maghribi style under the tutelage of calligrapher Mohamed Zakariya. www.aasilahmad.net
Nadia Janjua:
Nadia Janjua has been drawing and painting since her childhood years, and considers art and aesthetics to be a part of everything she does. Watercolor and oil are her main media, while architecture is her profession. She believes "drawing and painting can be illuminated as a means to express human experience, as well as a process of deepening personal faith." web.njit.edu
Nussi Abdullah:
Nussi Abdullah developed an interest in Islamic Calligraphy during college and has been creating original designs in ink, paint and charcoal for the last eight years. "I like to explore the fusion of the traditional with the contemporary; Islamic calligraphy has such universal relevance to the human experience." www.nussi-afreen.com
