You know, it claimed/promised to be a seminal work which supposedly took into account the entire history of human knowledge, but I still found it decidedly western focused.. There was no mention of Timbuctu, just imagine!! And the value/contribution was relegated simply to transmitters of older ideas to the resurgent west, come rennissance time.. I wasn't impressed.. (If this is the same book I'm thinking of..)
