A minimum?

Salam alikom all,

I was wondering for those of you who remember their start in the stock market, what was the amount of money you allocated for this? I dont have a $5K to play with. Maybe i'm thinking of a $1000, but then i'm not sure how much return will come from such low allocation. If I keep saying i dont have money to start this, i dont think i'll ever start. Do you have any hints or advise?
Thanks alot and jazakom Allah Kheir.

Akram,
It's buyandhold.com

Keep in mind, they only offer 3 trade windows a day.. first one is at 10, second at 12:30 and then the last one at 3pm. So if you put in an order, it will be executed during one of these windows. You do have the ability to choose which day / window you would like to execute the order in. It's pretty good.. and I have been using it for a couple of years now... without any issues.

I started with 2000... and then built on to it every month. I use buyandhold.com They have two pricing plans.. for 14.99/month you can do all the trades you want. And for 6.99/month you get 2 free trades and each trade after that is 2.99. They offer 3 trade windows during the day... check out their website for more details. If you have any questions.. post a message.

profit and loss depends on you, in regards to how experience you are in trading. Experience traders, they will cut their losses and move on to other stocks, if a stock isnt doing too well - and they set 10% or 5% stop loss.

I would highly recommend you, before u start investing, start reading books and other materials which can be found on the net - learn how to trade and develop trading strategies. Maybe do paper trading, before u actually start trading with real cash

hope this helps
regards
ps, a link for ur reference

no minimum .. u just dont get margin if you have < 5000(margin is cashX2=buying power).. so if you open a account with 1000 you can only use 1000 to buy .. if you open with 5000 you can use up to 10000.. hope this helps
