what a fun little site!
forums.thestranger.com

this is what i'll do at work today.
reading of all the horrors that have befallen others in this life.

it's crazy, but i am entertained my their misery.
sometimes i am amused, a few times i am horrified or sympathetic or empathetic.

the variation is extreme, some really suck, and are just people complaining out loud.
others are... well... very deep.
tormented souls, alone in a city of millions.....

mashallah, a study in humanity.
i like it.

and it feeds my voyeristic bent.

i pulled out the origenal title, the wussy dad who did nothing after the guy broke his kids skate board and insulted him
but it's of exactly the same vein. i'm doing a bit of spring cleaning, and deleted some of my old Journals

ah i dunno yo...i think the parent did the right thing...i think the lesson's dont sweat the small stuff--life's too short to get into altercations with teenie bopper boys that just want to cause a ruckus...maybe i'v been around too many guys that enjoy confrontation for confrontation's sake--they take on everyone that's smaller than them, and shrink back from those that are bigger..

in case anyone is wondering the last time i got into a physical altrecation, not counting sparring matches and what not, was 5 years ago.

and, i had a most honorable (yes, honor) reason for it.
there was a dude tickling a girl in the gym (he was lying on her) and she called out for help and kept telling him to get off.

I had recently met this girl, about 2 weeks before, she is a nigrian muslim, and she called out spefically to me to help her out, the words where "razi, you're supposed to be my brother"

after confirming that shewas not kidding, that she did in fact want this dude off of her (she was laughing, he was tickling her, it was hard to tell) and taht he was not her couzin or something. i got him off her and proceded to teach him some puertorican style respect.

the police where called, one of whom patted me on the back, and said "don't know why you had to do it alone, but it's good someone did, just don't do it again".

the other individual was temporarily suspended for violating my friends rights. and i was given anger management sessions, by a priest.

i have never since even gotten close. But i would do it again in a heart beat.

so please don't think i am a violent aggressive individual, i am really a peacefull person, and i get on well with others, and am usually good at defusing situations before fighting is necesary.

"Yes, I am not a very good skater, and yes, my son may have been in your way, but that was no reason to stomp my deck in half. A simple, "Move it jerk!" would have been fine"

wow... wow wow wow wow wow

the first comments are him humbling himself, taking the blame for the situation onto himself and his son.
then suggesting that some form of abuse was in fact in order.

WTF.

my mother would have hit him (the guy who broke the board) with her shoe.

or, if i was old enough, she would have had me go do it myself, even if it meant getting a beat down.

maybe i am a prime example of someone who has been socially conditioned, but your words below make sense to me Plato. they really do - and i wonder how the emasculation of his father would affect the son??

where did you get this?!

this village has suddenly become infused with more testosterone than we can shake a stick at

ahem...
i wasnt' sure i should post this here or in the "honor journal"

but. i would like to point out, that this persons son learned a valueble lesson that day, and it had nothing to do with skaters, it had nothing to do with being cool.

It had to do with his place in the social pecking order, and his sense of safety and security in the world.

This man, made the wrong decision.

In this country, it will matter little, or not at all.
In the Arab World, not too sure about the desi one, but in the arab world, and in much of latin america. this would have been the begining of the end for this family.
