A Song Based on One of My Poems

This evening, I wrote a song based on one of my poems. The lyrics are about the changes one goes through in life when faced with the bitter realities around. The music is quite simple, using a three-chord progression in the key of D major, topped by an obligatory electric guitar solo. Check it out:

Thanks,

Ahmad Bilal

thanks for sending the track. i'll check it out. to which address should i send the instrumental part of the mix? or you can add me on msn at [email protected]. these are the lyrics:

Tum se kaisay kahain
Kiun na hum chup rahain
Ab na hum woh rahay
Ab na tum woh rahay
Ab na raatain hain woh
Ab na baatain hain woh

Raastay hain juda
Kis ko kia hai mila
Phir ye bebas bashar
Tum ko kia day sila
Zakhm per zakhm hai
Hosla khatm hai
Ansoo kiun na bahain
Tum se kaisay kahain...

Surkh hai aasmaan
Tapti hai yeh zameen
Haath mein insaan ke
Ab to kuch bhee naheen
Bikhray sansaar mein
Biktay bazaar mein
Kaisay dukh yeh sahain
Tum se kaisay kahain...

Maut ka raaz hai
Zindagi saaz hai
Aik anjaam hai
Aik aghaaz hai
Bas gharee do gharee
Kuch pehar hee sahee
Chand lamhay rahain
Tum se kaisay kahain...

Kiun na hum chup rahain
Tum se kaisay kahain...

also bro deepblue, I dont mean to steal your song, but would you mind giving me the track for "tum se kaise" with no vocals, and the lyrics for it. I just wanna play with it for my own practice, i swear i wont steal it.

i actually have this track lying around and I cant seem to do anything with...its just the music, and i cant seem to find the right words or melody for it...if you're interested in doing something with it, let me know....www.project26.com/mp3s/nowords.mp3

thanks for the input. :D

i think the song should transition into the solo instead of starting it abruptly (like it is on this rough cut). the proper bassline is also due; got too lazy to play it and picked a dr. rex loop instead. there should be more instrumentation between the vocal parts as well. i hope to do a proper extended studio version of this song someday. this weekend, there is a meeting with some guys with prospects of making a band, so let's see how that goes.

on a side note, is anyone here interested in joining forces for doing a new song? if we decide on the key and overall structure, we can do it track by track. what do you think?

i actually like the vocals....but it does have a spoken word vibe to it.....still cool though. but as someone mentioned, the solo kind of goes off and might not fit the song perfectly and i think a better bass line and as you mentioned some drum breaks/fills are needed. its definately a song w/ potential though. if it were me, the vocals is the last thing i would worry about.

no dude, sing your own songs. If you stop singing, you're only gonna be holding yourself back. I think in music, its the vocals that take the longest time to develop. But we gotta continue doing it and not let anyone discourage us.

nice. but yea, like m_ali_qazi said.. the vocals lack emotion. sounds like you're just reciting them. and then there's the fact that I can't understand urdu, but that's not your fault. :)

the music is awesome, but the vocals lack a lot of life. They sound like reading. A lot of people have told me the same thing about my vocals, i think the only way to fix is to sing it again and again and again until you can feel the song.

Jam sessions are good. i always end up watching and blowing my ears off :(

thanks for the comments. :) i intend to fix the rough edges on this. i think the drum sequence needs a few breaks, and additional orchestration with grand piano and strings would help too. there's a jam session tomorrow. let's see how that goes.

good one dude, but the solo doesn't flow with the rest of the song. but overall, pretty good. sounds like the dude from vital signs...u gotta sing with emotions dude! let it all out...the changes are harsh! let it rip.
