I got a letter from KrogerCo regarding my request for halal products. And am told they have been unable to find a supplier that could service their stores.....and that they would keep my comments on file for future review.
And i received no response from some halal suppliers that i had tried to contact so far.
I guess that was a small step ,and hopefully not completely futile.
Thats major conflict between arab and desee moslems.
For me term Halal means Zabiha and so far I have not been able to justify not eating halal (as in zabiha) as one always has options. But then only Allah knows....a person who does not miss prayers and eats nonzabeeha maybe closer to God. One can only try.
what to my surprize i was told on pestering at an arab deli supposed to be halal was......they dont serve pork but animals are not slaughtered by moslems. And so they said their food is halal but not zabeeha! (fiqh council of North America and others do claim that food prepared by ahl-e-kitab is halal, though i believe its not preferred and with relatively easy availability of Halal there is no good excuse for not using it. Also we should be supporting moslem businesses who are tryin to provide halal food to moslems)
and Masooma I have tried to contact Dakota Halal and Midamar to find i and how we can order online. And secondly as consumers, what we can do to help them expand their market and introduce halal products in grocery stores. Since nowadays you get food from around the world in the usual grocery stores in even the not-so-big cities and "organic" meats should not be hard to sell.
