Sophisty,

The name "Kapoor" is an Avestani pronunciation of "K?fir". Even in Afghanistan they say "Kopera" for "K?fir".

They are from the "Khatri" class of Punjabis whose name derives from the Sanskrit "Kshatri" for the Hindu warrior caste. When they were defeated by the Muslims they were forbidden to bear arms or even ride a horse in the presence of a Muslim. Thus, they were labeled with indignity as "Kapoor".

They are 100% Punjabi and they were given this name by the Muslims who conquered them so that their defeat would always be with them.

They have no connection to Afghanistan.

Wow! Very interesting. However, I am sure that at least some of them are in fact indigenous Afghanis. If you look at the Kapoors of the Bollywood film industry, for example, their features and coloring are compatible with peoples from those areas (Afghanistan), so it does make one wonder...

Sis, none of these are indigenous Afghans. They are left-overs from Ranjit Singh's conquests, trade and business travels. Even their physical features are indicative of this.
