What are your favorite songs from our own Afghan Elvis...

I don't think there is one song of his that I do not like - all full of so much passion and heart. They bring back so many memories and just such a treat to listen to.

Let us liven up this village again =)

and I remember this song:

those were the days by Mary Hopkin www.amazon.com s=music& n=507846
click the link and go down to music sample - check out those were the days

That song was created in 1968 - does anyone know when Ahmad Zahir's song Zeba Negarum was created??

Best song EVER is Mother -i- man. I thought i had heard all of Ahmad Zahir's songs....but I was wrong. I bought his entire collection from Afghanistan and I heard this song for the first time on those cd's. Oh my GOD, I cried for a week...I had that song on repeat until my fiance hid the cd from me. It was the only way to separate me from that song. Listen to it and it feels like he's pulling your heart out from your chest. You can tell he was also crying while singing that song.

haha - there are a few (I still have family up there) Afghans are everywhere. I was in Arizona for a year and a 1/2 - actually ran into a few families out here as well.

If I put it on it reminds me of my childhood, growing up in Portland. My dad often would play his songs anywhere we went....

I have a question - I was in the car the other day and this song from Akon came out called Bananza/Belly Dancer. If you listen to hook when he goes "hey ladies, drop it down just want to see you touch the ground" do I hear a resemblance to when Ahmad Zahir song Dil Tang Ast - with his hook "Wakht e-ke dil tang ast"

check out - maybe I am just nuts
www.ahmadzahir.com
(Ahmad Zahir, click dil tang ast)

than try this link - it is about 50 seconds into the video: www.singingfool.com showid=
