The Mahdi foundation is seeking 400 muslims in the United States to donate at least $1000 to rasie $400,000 by July 15. This foundation/school will teach muslim childern full time from kindergargen to 8th grade and also serve as a masjid, The Foundation has alraedy rasied 5.5 million dollars. I know some of us cannot afford to donate a $1000 on such short notice, but this is about getting the word out. We all have relatives/friends who can not only afford to donate $1000 but more, please talk to them about the benefits of helping build a school and a masjid. The benefits in the here after are great and this is a worthy cause. Those who cannot donate, do not be discouraged. By only spreading this important news is enough. My father showed me a full page ad in a Pakistani newspaper called Urdu Times. The foundation will put a brick down in whomevers name you donate the money in. They will also pray for those who have donated the money after fridays prayers and after other special religious events (such as eid, Thrabia, muharram-10 days etc.).
The Fundraising Dinner will be held on July 8 Friday, @ 9pm-at Bokhara Restaurant

Establishing our identity will not come about by miracles. Hard work and commitment is required from and by all muslims in United states.
The scholar asked: "How can you accept Muhammad to be the prophet of God when he showed no miracles ? "

"The greatest of miracles of Allah is the human mind. It allows ideas to be thought through and reasoned out. Islam appeals to human reason. Man must accept God through reason and not through miracles ".

This Mosque/school in not being built in Pakistan, but in Brooklyn,NY. As far as tax deduction is concerned I will get back to u as soon as I find out w/link.
1st -- the math is off 400 donors at $1,000 yields $400,000, not $4Million
2nd -- most charities are happy to accept donations of any amount, they don't reject smaller donations. In pakistan, alot can be accomplished with a $50 or $100 donation.
3rd -- there is no web link on thier organizations. If they've already raised $5.5 million, they should invest a little promoting there organization.
4th -- you don't need $4 million to build a school or masjid in Pakistan
5th -- For $1,000 there should be information about being a tax exempt organiztion, and providing a tax deductible reciept to that effect. I would not recommed anyone donate to any organization that was not registered as such
6th -- google search revealed no credible information on the organizaton
Sorry, but for thesee reasons, I would not donate to this organization.
