American woman as a house wife

Ok i had this discussion with my Co-worker her name is kim... (she has no kids by the way)

Me: would you cook for your husband
Kim: (give me weird smile) i don't think so
ME: looking surprise at her
KIM: yah! he can do it himself!
ME: isn't you suppose to cook for your husband
Kim: i had some prepare food ready for him, he can just heat it up
Me: who cut the grass or remove the snow?
Kim: he does! i don't like doing that
Me: you work part time and he work over time
Kim: well we are equal, he better not command me to do anything, i do it when i feel like it
Me: who wash the cloth?
Kim: oh i do that
Me: i am glad that you do something
Kim: 'laughing"

i would love for my wife to do things for me with love not thinking that i am controling her.
just question how many here are oppsesed with what's called "men controling women"?

Masrawaya: I like that Amr.
=================
the thing I like about it is that u can learn lots of thins from it and read it from multiple prespectives... I mean, I heared it really many times with ppl citing it to support different point of views... but it is ONLY today that I got the words ""voluntarily" and "without Allah "ordering" her"... but as you guys were saying below, if the two partners are happy.. they who cares....??? when it comes to relatioships, it is you and her/him... ppl's opinions, culture, etc. are not important...

I read today something relvant to the discussion below, and I will leave its interpretation to you:

===========================
When someone went to complain to Omar Ibn El-Khatab (RAA) that his wife raises her voice when talking to him, he found that Omar's wife is doing the same thing without Omar (RAA) doing anything to her... and when Omar was asked about that he said: she washes my clothes, raises my kids and cleanes the house, and she does all of these things "voluntarily" without Allah "ordering" her to do so, so shouldn't I preserve her when she raises her voice?
============================

well, this is not an invitation for wives to raise their voices though lol

I've heard that alot actually hossam. I was always worried that all that fuzzy excited feeling will fade away once you have been married for a while, but many successfully married people assured me, even though you dont have that giddiness or whatever, what comes in place is much stronger and better. So it is good to know ;)

aya. i am glad that me and u reach to understanding agreement about this subject. : )

it's exactly being ur self. when u see two couples complement each other alot it means they are either in their beginning of relationship. or they have some kind of distance and limitation between them. or just love it when they spoil each other.

that's how a married woman explained to me. i asked her which love is stronger... the beginning of the relationship or after marriage (after 4 years marriage)?
-she said Love is more stronger after marriage but with less complements.

shohob, thats a great idea!! haha

no I know what you are saying Hossam, ya3ni, there should be a level of comfort with your wife that you dont have to put on an act, but like you said, it all depends on the tone.

just like how u talk to ur brothers or sisters at home.

for example, while my brother in the kitchen i tell him.. "hat kobayet mayya we entaa gaay ya Hazem"

hahaha
in some point i agree with you. nice words are important but not 24/7.
it depend on her voice tone ya aya if she sound bossy or sound like needy or thirsty. then i will have no problem get her the water.
i just don't like to wear masks during the relationship.

kobayet el maya could not be the perfect example..

situation that i like to keep it real such as ....
"take the child to the clinic"
"visit ur mom"

so3ad kobayet maya? since when a nice word takes alot of time ya ostaz hossam? ;) didn't your mom teach you to say please when you ask for something? I don't see when are you ever too busy to just say please. I am sure you wouldn't like it if your wife ordered you around like that, right? :

hossam's wife: hossam, kobat maya
hossam: hadir

(hmm, does seem feasible does it?)

:)

especially when i don't have time i like to say it like this " so3aad kobayeet mayaa"

Login to find out (March 15, 2006 at 6:45am)
ok let me practice..

ME: " 7ayatii ya so3aad momkeen kobayet mayyaa"
SHE: " ro7i hossam men 3enaya ya albi"
ME: " laa habibi ana mesh 3awez 3eneek, i just want the water honey"
SHE: "el mayaa we ana ta7t amraak ya 3a2lii"

ok maybe that work. however for how long are we going to complement each other like that . there is a time were i like to keep it real.

Shohob, I used the work equally only in reference to Aymoons comments. I dont think there should be any comparison between what the husband "offers" or the wifes as long as they are both happy with it.

Aymoon, what are you talking about? You are the one that brought up the issue of whose bringing what to the relationship, dont you remember? and you even said something like if the woman doesnt work and doesnt do things around the house then she is just offering her body....hello!!!! this whole issue started because of what you said! please scroll back and read your comments, I am sure it would clarify things. Anyway, I am done making my point here.

in business maximize the profit means maximize in money. however in marriage it's strength the family relationship and make it stronger and successful.

in business u have no feelings when it comes to make discissions. in marriage a person need to be strong when he take a dicission that will affect the whole family.

u r right about the feelings part. bussiness could not be the perfect example but it's close enough.

maybe someone already married can benefit us more.
