another battle

There are many stereotypical battles in this world. The eternal battle of good vs evil. Of religion vs science. Or even secular vs religious.

But, is the mother of all battles: authoritanianism vs pluralism?

who says pluralism can't be authoritarian?

just one look at pakistan's political topography reveals authoritarianism flourishing within a pluralist framework -- the status quo benefits all the lobbies.

Now, who's going to take me on with the definition of pluralism now?

Okay, so I shoulda read the comments, but still feel that the biggest battle lies in the lack of communication between Mars and Venus.

One talks heart, the other listens brain. Other reaponds brain, one hears talk that makes no emotional sense... WAR!

Is that indeed the mother of all battles?
I guess the battle of the sexes is soo 70's already, isn't it?

I mean, I didn't know it was. I see it going on right here and now.. and to me, that is the most significant battle around..

CF there are people already who idolize Stalin, Hitler and Saddam. There are just people who love dictator and get sense of security and stability from an oppressive dictator.

I'm reading Genghis Khan... some say he was evil, some say he was good. I think he was kick ass. Same goes for Alexander. Those Persians still think he's the devil. Both are characters of high romance these days. How long before people fondly remember Adolf, Stalin and Saddam?

Democractically Elected Leader vs Philosopher King.

Deep Pan vs Thin Crust!

(Hang on, isn't this like the Two Types Of People In This World entry in SoRightYet Wrong... I think Shazia's on a quest to polarize everything :P )

no probably good vs. evil would still be the ultimate battle, unless you can find an evil pluralism society. was there ever such a thing? can we consider Nazi Germany a pluralist society since Hitler was elected to office? or when a pluralist society like the US choose to go to war in Iraq?
