booya! Go nabk!! yes, I am a nabki, and our hareeseh is world famous :). I actually don't know what makes it so goood! I can try and ask the "madinah" owner (the famous store on the highway that sells the best hareesah). he's our relative afterall :P.

I remember having a stop in Nabek to buy their popular hreeseh every time we drive up north to Latakia,7ama or 7alab.It's so yummy and the amazing thing they don't give their secret to an outsider.Basel,will you be the first kind nabki to give us your hreeseh secret?

Thanks FAdi and te3meh but what I asked for was a tried before authentic Algerian place that serves Algerian sweets.I've tried almost all places in SF but thanks for the effort though

You are right caarabguy, that is the city. It is between Damascus and Homos, and Nabek is known as the best Haresseh in Syria.

In Iraq there are few other distinguished sweets that were mot mentioned up there Fadi:
1- Zalabiya.
2- Mun wul Salwa (Min El Sima In Iraqi Slang)
3- Kleejat especially Kleejat Tam'or.
4- Musqool.
5- 7alawat Taheen.
6-Zirda.
