Arranged Marriages
Do you believe in arranged marriages? Do they have any merits? why so? or why not?
Arranged marriages operate on the notion that marriages are primarily an economic union or a means to have children. In a large number of arranged marriages, usually the male is older than the female. This age difference is usually intentional; some societies consider it proper for an older man to be united with a younger woman. I personally don't feel comfortable with the idea of arranged marriages.
yeah, that kind of the way the next generation is taking it. from a fully arranged marriage to arranged truned love marriages. i think its the evolution of arrange marriages :)
Sometimes arranged marriages can be, a forced marriage that is performed under duress and without the full and informed consent or free will of both parties. Arranged marriage does not mean to be tied to somebody without your consent. It involves a lot more than getting two people to spend rest of their lives together because their parents think it is good for them that way. Now the positive side of arranged marriage . Marriage is based on lot of factors. Economic, educational, social, cultural, and most of all romantic compatibility is very important too. In arranged marriages loving and caring parents or family friends or relatives help in looking for compatible match, keeping in view all the requisite factors. :)
hey i am all for arranged marriages. to the bit that it kinda gets a little extereme. I am about to get engaged, as soon as a couple of weeks. I have only spoken to my parents-in-law once and never to my to-be-spouse.
I am of the opinion, that once you get used to a person in your life day in day out, love comes eventually. Just like when a kid is born, he has no affiliations, but day in and day out when all he sees is his mother, father, brother and sisters then he starts to love them over time, to the point that he cant even listen to any thing asgainst them.
So if a newly wed/ engaged couple meet for the first time at marriage, exploring their spouse could be a learning and exiting curve, and at the end of that road lays the secret love and mutual respect. what do you guys thing.
On another note, let me shed some light on my good friend "brainsyke"'s brightness, knowledgeability, verbosity, and argumentative nature, by just quoting him again "Islamic deen is different from atheist deen". Dude, please click on this link ( dictionary.reference.com ) to learn what an atheist is to begin with, then we will discuss further. I know its a learning curve for you, but i have patience. :o)
If you are happiliy married, i am happy for you, but when you speak in general dont be patronizing people. Now think before you reply to this one, Is the reason for marriag of 2 athiests "Deen" or God for that matter. I dont think so.
as for the scientific proves are concerned, science hasnt proven God's existance, or that there is a heaven, or there is a devil, or there is a hell, or so many many things, but people still do it because they believe in it. :o)
but brain syke, what if the person is not muslim, then what? oops, looks like another silly overlooked auspect of life. Then what deen and what God and what.... so in that scenario (the one outside the box) people only do things that they believe in, thus the question "do you believe in arranged marriages". LOL avoing the word "stupid" too yaar.
