8:00 pm, Artist and filmmaker Alia Syed presents a lecture and screening of her films. Born in Wales (UK) of South Asian and
Welsh descent, Alia Syed's work explores issues of identity and representation, often employing rhythmic and cyclical elements
in which characters, places, text, images, and sound coincide with and at times oppose conventional narrative structures.
Syed's interest in time and memory is the basis for her storytelling, in which the personal reality is interwoven with the
film's narratives, ultimately creating a space for dialogue and reflection. Her most recent work, Eating Grass, filmed in
Lahore, Karachi and London overlaps five narratives in correlation to the five times of day for Muslim prayer. Her work has
been featured in shows on three continents, most recently in the Edge of Desire show at the Queens Museum of Art in New York.

Amongst the other highlights of the night include the World Premiere of the Karmacy video BLOOD BROTHERS, a highly anticipated
Rukus Avenue debut from vocalist Jason Joseph, DJ's Yashraj and Bladez on the 1's and 2's, and some of the best audio/video
presentation since the Big Bang! The show will kickoff with the widely critically acclaimed documentary by Raeshem Nijjon
called "Brown Like Dat." Raeshem was recently featured in the leading hip hop magazine XXL for "Brown Like Dat," in which she
talks about the growing movement of South Asian hip hop. Look for performances by some of the best dancers in Los Angeles, as
