Ask Jeff Bezos to feature South Asian Earthquake Relief on Amazon.com

Nine weeks into the South Asian earthquake, emergency relief funding is still at a crisis point. The U.N. Emergency Coordinator has warned that "the situation remains very difficult and indeed we are on a knife's edge."

Visitors to Amazon.com contributed more than $12.5 million to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina and $16 million for tsunami relief efforts. Yet, eight weeks on, there is no similar button for South Asian earthquake relief aid on Amazon.com's home page. Amazon.com has demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian causes in the past. It needs to demonstrate this commitment again to a cause that requires urgent help.

Please submit a quick letter to Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon.com, urging him to put a South Asian earthquake relief aid button on Amazon.com's front page.

Thank you.

Yeah, I received it through an e-mail. It's fantastic. This is the link again: www.forum.kaash.org and then click on the second topic down which reads "CONTACT NEWS MEDIA OUTLETS TO PROVIDE MORE COVERAGE OF QUAKE". Let me know if that works!

Thanks for your comment. Is that the right URL? I couldn't find the site.

By the way, saquake.org also has the CapWiz letter-writing software set up for writing to media outlets and to your U.S. government representatives.

Cheers.

Thanks for posting this. I am working on a letter writing campagin similar to this to media outlets. Check out the letter at forum.kash.org and click Campaigns and then LETTER TO MEDIA ABOUT EARTHQUAKE DISASTER. Same idea - to apply pressure and keep the story relevant so that people continue giving. The site also has a list of local addresses and e-mails of journalists and news stations.
