You will only need to attend one of the audition times. The audition will consist of cold readings from the play, so you do not need to prepare anything.

'Final Solutions' is set in the context of Hindu-Muslim religious tensions in India. It is the most thought-provoking work I have seen on the subject. It hits on the basic emotional, human level and seems to challenge fundamental social beliefs. The story centers around a family in India during a heated time of religious feud and social distrust.

The performance days will be October 21st through November 6th at Diverse Works in Downtown. The location of the rehersals will depend on the cast and their preference of location.

**If you cannot attend the audition times listed above and wish to audition or help with the production in any way, please email [email protected] with your information.**

Charecters

Javed - A riot-rouser. strong presence, very passionate, short fuse. becomes prejudice when he feels threatened.

Bobby - Open minded, quiet, gentle, Javed's friend. cautious, tries to blend in by not wearing religious clothing.

Ramnik - head of the house, he labels himself a political 'Liberal'. he tries to overcome the prejudices of society and the prejudices of his father by extending a hand to Javed and Bobby

Aruna - Ramnik's wife. very religious. blindly prejudice towards Javed and Bobby because of societies assumptions.

Hardika - Ramniks mother. older, bitter, distrusting. she was alive during partition. The play is seen through her eyes.

Daksha - Hardika as a young girl. full of energy, very open minded. she is alive during partition times. she shows that this story is similar to the prejudices of the partition times.

Smita - Ramnik's daughter. gentle, obedient. she had a relationship with Bobby. she eventually lashes out about her uncertainty of the families religion.

Chorus - 5 people, any age/sex, narrators, Mob members, they wear masks to
portray Hindu and Muslim people at different times.

You will recieve the selected reading on the day of the audition. However, some individuals would like to review the pieces before the audition. If so, please email [email protected] with your sex and age range, and a sample of the selected readings will be sent. OR you can receive all the materials on the day of the audition without any problem.
