Thanks, Pez....I do live in Illinois. My math skills are horrible....I was an English major in college, and I graduated 3 years ago, so mathematically all I can do at this point is add, subtract, multiply and divide. I have forgotten EVERYTHING else about math, even algebra and geometry. Have you or anyone else ever taken the Miller Analogies Test?

if your in Illinois, the test is so ridiculously easy... they give you the algebra and geometry rules and formulas... the english grammar is gets to the stupid nuances of language that have to be corrected.. as for the writing - make it a standard 5 paragraph dull dry essay with a begining middle and end... for the 110 for elementary and middle school, brush up on Illinois government, US constitution/Bill of Rights and world geography....the rest is pretty easy..... I have to take the APT, but there is no real source to use except isbe.net - that has all the study guides for all the tests

Where are you located? Every state in the U.S. has different assessments and requirements for becoming a teacher. Colorado used to have a basic skills test. I personally found it very easy. It was basically a twelfth grade CAT or ITBS test - if you know what those are. Multiple choice.

But now, we have much more detailed, specific assessments. For example, to get my math certification, I had to take a three-hour constructed response assessment that included calculus, statistics, trig, algebra, etc.....
