Beard in islam

i've recently come across a person who said that it is not acceptable to grow any kind of beard (example: french) other than the long beard...Is this true?

i would assume this person then feels that the beard is mandatory...not just sunna. if you agree, than yes, the other beards are not acceptable. if you take the other side (i.e. beard is strong sunna but not mandatory), then there's nothing wrong w/ having different types of beards. but don't say that you have a french cut because its sunna...you can't do half a sunna. doing a sunna means doing like the prophet (pbuh) did....which means keep the beard the way the prophet (pbuh) did. why, are you planning to grow a beard saba? lol.....jk.
