I loved everything between Music for the Masses and Ultra. Music for the Masses probably their breakthrough from POP to innovational elctronic/rock.
I have all their albums from 87-01. I did not reallu like their pre '86 stuff, so I got the singles from 81-85. They have so many songs that it is hard to choose an actual favorite, but it eventually comes down to lyrics for me.
Funny thing is, today, you never really meet people who like great music; it is great to run into people, who are into DM.
NYC: Devotional Tour - '93 (The The opened), 2 dates on the Exotic tour - '94 (Primal Scream and Stabbing Westward opened), 2 dates on the tour that happened around '98 (I forgot who opened). BOSTON: a date on the '98 tour.
wanaperfectsoul, funny you should bring that up... i don't listen to anything newer than "violator"... the only song on "songs of faith and devotion" that i like is "rush"... i haven't bought any newer albums by DM since then. oh, i forgot about "it's no good"... good track.
Depeche Mode is one of the most innovative and creative bands of all time. David Gahan and Martin Core are a dynamic duo that left us with great music to enjor for the rest of our lives.
DM concert: Yes, Jones Beach in summer of '00. Amazing live band.
Own every album from Music for the Masses onward. Most sentimental album: Songs of Faith and Devotion (the title says it all). Favorite album regarding composition: Violator.
I wished I was a little older, so I would have been able to see them tour during the early 90s.
Their music stands the test of time and can wipe out the garbage out their today.

I'm working on my own album these days so hopefully you guys can form a village (I prefer city) for my shows too. :)
1993: SoFaD tour: London, UK -- Crystal Palace. Awesome show with Sisters of Mercy opening -- WICKED!
1998: Singles Tour at MSG. Took my brother to this one. Great show. Hey, Violex, it seems like you were there too. Where were you sitting?
