i guess bendib's success is partially explained by his independet brush. no newsaper editor tells him what to paint or think, and he seems entereneurial enough to make a living out of his gig.

there were 2 famous cartoonists from algeria (slim) and (dilem) who published books and books of their best cartoons. but dilem is now in jail.

yes, his cartoons have circulated everywhere, even in arab sattelite tv, yet he doesnt get the credit he deserves.

several arab papers have their own cartoonists, but not as consistently diverse and original.
