Jean Luc Picard. Patrick Stewart was born to play that role.

Darmok is of the best episodes in the show, I suggested to my English teacher when I was learning English that it should be shown to every student and teacher in their ESL program. not sure that she followed through but I still love that episode.

Picard was the best captain played by one of the best actors in the series

That was a cool episode, but I liked the episode "Darmok." That was cool and very educational that anyone could communicate with a person of a different species or cultures as long as you take the time to learn about them.

That was a good one too. Living an entire life in just hours. That was cool.

Another great Picard episode was The Inner Light - arguably the best performance he's ever done.

That was a good episode, it made me hate the Cardassians even more.

One of the great episodes with Picard was the episode "Chain of Command" where Picard is taken in by Cardassians and their commander tortures picard and tries to make him say that there are five lights in front of him (When in fact there are only four). Picard stays his ground despite all the torture and even in the end he shrieks "THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS"

Jean-Luc takes the cake for me, though I really think Kirk, Picard, Sisko, and Janeway were all wonderful characters; they all brought something different to the table. But Archer was poorly written and miscasted.

Wow. ....

I always liked Picard best but your argument brings to light the good points regarding Janeway.

Ok OK let me end this whole arguement....Picard and Janeway had alot of similarities as captains such as diplomacy and respect of there officers...but Janeway also excelled in accomplishing far more than Picard had to all while dealing with a $hit load of things...ie., dealing aloooooot more with the Borg and Species 8472, uniting rival crews, improvising with a convict and two aliens humanoids from the Delta quadrant and integrating them in to her crew...and she knows her ship inside out and knowledge of science far eceeded that of Picards being even at the chief engineers apititude when it came to engineering...all the while struggling with the emotion element of the hopelessness of ever returning to alpha quadrant etc even if it is 75 year at maximum warp, plus withouth any other starfleet assistant or having the likes of Data onboard...but through all this she kicked some serious a$$ along the way and brought them home.... so having said that the best captain by far.....is Janeway...even Picards first offcier Rikers admiration was noticably when he met her (courtesy of Q) in one of the Voyager episodes.

I think his accent helped with those scenes, but i love picard!!!!

Picard - for me - he got some of the most dramatically effective scenes in all of the star trek world. His "mostly" cool and unflappable persona was great.

Big toss up for me between Picard and Sisko...I'll go with Sisko today.

Jean Luc was cool. but Sisko got dirty when he fooled the romulans to join the dominion war over a false bit of evidence that he made up.

so..i like Sisko
