best malls in md
alrighty folks, gimme the reviews..you know u go!
here's a nice coffee break story of my adventure in columbia mall the other day. enjoy.
----------------------------------- --------------
not much of a mall shopper...but had a lovely adventure saturday. i had originally planned to check out six flags with some friends, however one by one we dropped the idea becuz of the rain...somewhat bummed to not make it out there, but didn't want to spoil the whole day. we decided to make the best of it and head over to columbia mall. i was there perhaps once or twice before after work, never much traffic. yet quickly i learned that when it rains on the weekend, apparently droves of people decide to frequent the malls.
my girlfriend and i carpool there and after we park we turn to each other to see who brought the umbrella...realizing neither of us has one, we hop out and dash for the strip. we head into ll bean seconds before it starts to really pour and try to find the inside mall entrance. long story short, there isn't one. pop out, pop into starbucks which thankfully leads us in.
my gf and i grab a bit to eat in the food court awaiting another chica to join us. seconds after copping a squat, my gff realizes she kept the car unlocked. *sigh* she's got a bowl of ice cream in front of her so i get to be the runner..out into the wild wet yonder yet again...lock and double lock the car and venture back in...starbucks entrance duly noted.
by this time our chica joins us and we vagabond around the shops....all selling pretty much the same as every other store, but entertaining nevertheless. somewhere in express as chica and i sitting around while our gff is off trying on clothes, the cutest chinese-american toddler comes right towards us and goes, "hi!"
we realize his mother had temporarily abandoned him to check out the express bargain bins and he sits up next to us to have what i will now remember as the best conversation in all my life with any guy. he was just all of four years old, sweet as can be and completely friendly. dawning a gameboy in hand, pokemon keychain and two disney bags- this kid was rockin. in a matter of minutes he shared with us how he was going swimming the next day and his mother had bought him all sorts of cool stuff (and i mean cool, he had frog goggles!). seeing this kid overjoyed about swimming made me think back to the days of old where i would take pleasure in the smallest things and imagine it was the best ever. memories.
mosiing along, we trailed in and out and came upon our next encounter with some college boys who were apparently not realizing which mall they were in...one of whom was on the phone trying to keep his mother informed. boy one: "yeah, were definately in arrundel mills." phone boy: "no, we're definately in columbia."
phone boy again: "no, mom, we're definately in arrundel mills." me "no, you're definately in columbia."
*all laugh*
after tiring ourselves out from trying on a bunch of clothes we'd never really wear, filling up on lunch, grabbing a massage chair to unwind and actually accomplishing a bit of shopping in between, we hit the cell phones to calm down our mothers who think we've been out too long and hit the road a lil after 5ish.
....all got me to thinking...whats you're fav. mall/if-you-have-time-like-i-do-mal l story?
