Big Mouth
Aside from Yehband, who has the biggest mouth in your so-called life?
godddddddd what a loong list of disabilities brought on women for the sake of 'beauty' due to the male definition of beauty....
from feet binding in ancient china (to the extent that women are unable to walk), corsetting in victorian england (to the extent that women breathed shallowly and died young due to respiratory problems)...
not to mention the earlobe/ mouth thing in africa and genital mutilation and aborting female foetuses because they are an expense rather than a blessing :(
as mystic mentions, this is now replaced by things ilke skin bleaching(!) and nip/tucks - have we, as women, learned to love ourselves and our bodies yet or do we still pander to male stereotypes and allow others to define what constitutes femininity and what our assets are / should be, or what our destiny should be
*off to get my hair dyed and stock up on eye shadow... :( *
zz - they killed the young girls, yes, but they also bound their feet - sometimes breaking bones, etc so that the feet would be very small... and i think you are right, i think it is the chineese.
however, it seems every culture has it's oddities. here, we women get tans... purposefully making our skin more prone to wrinkles, skin cancer, age spots, burns, etc. we pierce parts, get tatoos, dye our hair, flat iron it, get perms... exposing ourselves to pain, chemicals, etc... all in the name of beauty. we even inject toxins into our wrinkles and have new noses built or our butt fat injected into other places... i could go on, but you guys get it. it is, sadly enough, in every culture. and what is more sad... women seem to fall prey to it a lot more easily then men.
masaud, i thought those were the chinese. and my chinese friends tell me that due to chinas one child policy, quite a few ppl abort female fetuses .. as a result, china has more men than women.
Its like they way that japenese guys used to fancy women with small feet so they would bind them from a young age to keep them in a tiny compressed shape.
Beauty is in the eye of beholder. Big lips are a symbol of beauty in that African tribe ( I guess for them, big lips lady sure is better then big mouth lady ) and bigger the lip, sexier the woman. ( Not in my case, I need something else BIG in order to consider a woman sexy).
