Bird Flu spreads across Europe ... hits India too !


Over the past few days, the Bird Fly virus (H5N1 strain) has rapidly spread across Europe and was today discovered in India too.

Also, virus strains resistant to Roche's Tamiflu drug have also been found, further compounding the situation. BioCryst (a spinoff from my school) has been granted a fast track review by the US FDA for its new drug Peramivir, so maybe theres some hope left for the world....

Since it has been detected in India, its only a matter of time before its found in Pakistan !!!





1) Has the virus hit your country ?

2) What precautions are you taking ?

3) Will you stop eating chicken altogether?

4) Do we need a miracle to control this fast spreading virus ?

Oh my God! You do need to be careful. And maybe eat as much beef as you can before you come to know Pakistan has been hit by the madcow disease:) (God forbid)


I need to make sure my parents are aware of the birdflu in Pak.

birdflu virus identified in Pak... Charsadda & Abbotabad. wat are we going to do :( They are saying if the virus mutated further it can kill millions of people. btw, we have totally stopped eating chicken around here as u never know how well cooked it is.

Fairytale, according to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta , Georgia here in the United States, contact with infected chicken can spread the disease .. but I guess if you cook the chicken well enough, that might kill the virus and make it safe to eat the chicken.

I trust the CDC more than the British government on this matter :)

Zztop! I couldn't eat my chicken the other day because of the wrong information you provided. :)

The British Govt. says it doesn't spread through eating poultry.

I think it spreads by any direct contact with poultry ...and that includes eating poultry !

yes it spreads thru contact with chickens..Thats why i have decidedto stay away from fairyland ;)

I think u can still eat ur chicken fairy... Its not that severe..as far as i know.
