blasphemy ? or freedom fo speech ?

There is a rage in muslim world regarding the cartoon published in different newspapers in euorpe. the debate is wether britian should or shouldnt publish em as well ? as muslims we all do love our prophet but do we really really need to make an issue out of such idiotic provokation by dumb ppl ?

hehehe i love the brit editors/ papers.. flashing a glimpse of the cartoons then getting all panicked and scrapping what they're printing.. P: 'freedom (H) of :P speech'

also impressed after jack straw's comments that america has a reasonable tone 'The State Department called the drawings "offensive to the beliefs of Muslims" and said the right to freedom of speech must be coupled with press responsibility.

"Inciting religious or ethnic hatred in this manner is not acceptable," State Department press officer Janelle Hironimus said. '

Labs, OIC, well they go straight on the blacklist... I mean, I don't begrudge them their aims but I'm not going to help them get there. I'll happily support Israel, most Israelis actually want settlements out of occupied land and there are always plenty of organised protests, but the gov't play to the votes (a bit like the UK did during the Troubles), but until the gov't start getting enlightened I'll vote with my cash! Btw, is there a similar blacklist for organisations that contribute to fanatical Islamist groups? I don't really want my cash heading their way either... letme have a look...

jamal, i don't think the firms are israeli owned rather israel sympathisers (profits are directed to israel)

'In a book written by Lord Marcus Sieff, titled Management - The Marks and Spencer Way, Sieff (once the chairman of Marks and Spencer) wrote that one of the objectives of Marks and Spencer was to aid the economic development of Israel.' www.sunnahonline.com

and
Marks & Spencer are not targeted because they are ?Jewish? or ?Israeli? owned, but, rather, because they deal extensively with Israel, buy preferentially from Israeli sellers and buy products which are produced in Israeli settlements in the Occupied Territories. (from link below)

starbucks:
'perceived pro-Israel.. Starbucks? chair Howard Schultz is an active Zionist whose own activities include running propaganda seminars on behalf of Israel across campuses in both North America and Israel.' www.workersliberty.org

zz, absolutely, but how is that helping the muslims there.. and as you say where is the arab equivalent.

Labs, Israel has some of the most brilliant scientists and entrepreneurs on the planet. Technion, Weizmann Institute of Science, and Tel Aviv University are amongst the finest in the world (both interms of facilties and quality of the faculty - unlike the indian IITs) and held in high regard here in the US.

I didn't even know those companies were owned by Israel? I don't buy Israeli fruit and veg but somebody suggested to me that a lot of the labour used to collect this fruit is Palestinian and that means I may be inadvertently affecting their employment... Damn the butterfly effect!

while we're talking of boycotts how many of us boycott israel ? (there's a naseeb village on this) - in my case that means staying away from starbucks and marks n spencer.

saha, the biggest culprit is Dubai, uae. They would rather have the worlds biggest indoor ski resort to lure tourists than a research institute which draws in the brightest minds.

the mideast arab countries are third world countries with a first world exterior.
