Blast from the past
ASAK all,
I went to Hajj when I was 13 (I'm 33 now)... *sigh* you do the math! Anyways, what do I remember from the past?
Hate to say it, but the first thing that comes to mind is bad bathroom! I guess looking back...it was a teenager's pov.
But, I also remember a few other things. The ice cream shop right beneath the hotel. Ice cream was out of this world good. Shauvarma (can't spell)... of course, it's a delight no matter when you eat it.
Uhmmm, lemme see. I remember doing Umrah before doing Hajj and seeing the Ka'ba for the first time...you never forget the emotion.
Tawaf and Sai...the crowd...yet...the four of us (mom, dad, my bro, and myself...my whole family :)) held hands and did it together.
I didn't go to throw the stones...neither did my mom. My dad and bro served as our "proxy"???
Remember Arafat vaguely...remember the heat kinda. I just remember my bro and dad coming back from Jumah prayers talking about how hot the road was. I remember this woman who was soooo dehydrated and her husband (sweet man seemed like) placing a cold cloth on her forehead. Remember drinking SERVIDRAT. And if any of you know what that is or how to get it...please tell me...I could majorly use it for my tennis matches. It's a tablet you dissolve in water and drink...gives your energy right back. I haven't seen it since my days in Dubai!
What else? Yeah...we picked stones...where was that? The night air was amazing.
Remember people reading numerous duas in Arafat and remember thinking....I hope I don't forget to ask for something....
Anyways folks...this is a long enough post...so happy reading.

Jazaakallah Khair for this reminder. Now I better go before I drop "eye juice" all over the keyboard. Assalaamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuhu.
