Books to help through illness

Hi guys,

A really good friend of mine has been diagnosed with cancer, and is going to be spending the next 6-8 months in and out of hospitals for chemo sessions. It's really unfair. I want to get her something to read that will help her get her mind off of the illness and/or help her through this difficult time. Any suggestions?

I wish your friend a complete and swift recovery. I would recommend "The Art of Worldly Wisdom" by Balthasaar Graecian and "Pocket Mirror for Heroes" by the same author. Many people facing difficulties think of ways to improve themselves and their way of living. These books have great axioms for how people should live and conduct themselves. GREAT stuff.

Hi guys,

Thanks a lot for the suggestions! I will pass on the supportive messages (and hugs) to her. I'll definitely look into these suggestions! I think I'll end up going with some light and funny books, since laughter is the best medicine :) Plus, most of her reading these days is composed of books and brochures on lymphoma, so I'm sure she needs a break from the serious and mundane. Fight Club might be a good release for her too.

Is your friend female? Bridget Jones' Diary I/II. Harry Potters, all of them. If it's a guy, maybe him some muscle magazines (human and auto) and maxim etc.
