Hey everyone. Alhamdulillah, just matched to Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston and was wondering if anyone might help me out with housing. Some senior residents have advised me to find a place in Brookline so if someone could throw me a bone I'd really appreciate it. I've lived in NYC since birth and haven't really experienced a situation like this in the past. Boston is a new challenge for me...I just don't want to stress out at the beginning of residency over something like finding a place to live. Thanks!

I would check out web sites like craigslist.com and bostonapartments.com. I grew up in Boston and my mom works at Brigham and Women's which is next to Beth Israel. I think where you choose to live depends on what you want in terms of lifestyle. As long as you live near a T station, you can get to Longwood. But if you live in Brookline, the commute will be shorter, of course. If you would prefer to be near the city, though, you might want to look more close to the city. Good luck.

Look in the fenway area... its about a 5 min walk to BI and the places are fairly decent... studios cost about $1000 and 1 bedroom anywhere from $1200-1500... i used to live in the area and loved it... there are some management companies you can call... the copley group and Forest properties... there is another called Fienberg (sp?) call these places directly and you can rent without a fee... if u have questions u can email me... i don't check all the journals and villages that often

no prob. but if you are out of options, and need a place for a month as you look for a plpace localy, you can sublet mine for a bit.

Well, to be a bit more specific, I'd prefer an apartment for myself without roomates. I understand that the Muslim community is fairly tight out there so I figured there might be some single apartments for rent by Muslim landlords. I guess I might be able to tolerate just one roomate if need be, but I'd be more comfortable on my own.

i'm moving out of my place in Dorchester come july, you want it it's yours.

there's a shuttle that runs you out too Longwood Medical area thats about 5 mineuts walk from my front door.

it's a bit of a slumy neighborhood, but not too bad. And you can't beat the rent.
