I think she is a role model women everywhere, just not in Pakistan. Not every rape in the US is reported, generally because women feel that people will look at them 'differently' if they knew. Doesnt sound much different from the East.
Second, I wish writers, speakers or whoever else would stop using the phrases like 'her/his honor destroyed' for the victims. Why is the victim's honor in question here? It is the aggressors who have lost their honor, not the victim. Language says a lot about how a culture thinks. Change the language and you can change a lot. So I think one way we can make a difference on an individual basis is by correcting somebody when they say the victim's 'izzat (honor)' has been tainted somehow.

I agree, I kept wondering what she is made up of. Its amazing that a woman with no progressive background and education could really do so much for other women and men (I think she has affected the way a lot of men think too). My hats off to her. I wish other people in Pakistan (including us) start thinking and acting like her.
I think people like her are the HOPE to our future!

May Allah bless her.

Thanks for sharing, C!
