BRIDAL EXPOS!!!!!!!!!!!

My sister is getting married @ the end of this spring!!! YAAAYY!!! Sooo we were thinking about going to a few of the upcoming Bridal Expos. There's one i know of this weekend in b'more and I hear theses a Desi one going on in the area in a few weeks. I was wondering if anyone had any feedback, cuz ive never been to one of these events. Has anyone ever been to one? Do you know what the vendors do? What they offer? Especially in terms of make-up? Do they actually do trial makeup? What do the makeup artists/beauticians offer/do at the expos?

hey! that's the bridal expo i've got a stall at. there will be 3 fashion shows, and im doing the makeup for 2-3 of them. we usually don't do full-out trials because time does not permit (plus, most of us use very expensive, top of the line makeup that would prove too costly to use as such). personally, i give quick demonstrations of my work to give prospects a feel for my work, level of expertise, work ethic and personality, which are all impt factors in choosing a makeup artist/hair stylist/et al for your Big Day. plus, i bring photos/ slideshows/ portfolios/ booklets/ business cards and the like to show. sometimes i have live models as well.

hope to see u all at the expo on the 25th, 11-5pm. it'll be a fun event even if ur not getting married in the near future!

For makeup, I wouldn't necessarily limit yourself to Desi. Friends and myself have taken our kameez or whatever top you were wearing and gotten some great looks to match by makeup artists with Stila, MAC, etc. Depends on what kind of look you want..MAC does a good matte look with some guidance, good colours as well. Or Stila for a good range of shimmer and colour.

That's just makeup though...the resources on others are endless...

I'm really not sure about the makeup! From the website, it seems like theres going to be a lot of photographers/videographers/florist s and maybe some clothes. For makeup, I would just suggest some of the salons in the area. Some of them are quite good. Zaib's salon on Rt 1 is really good..Ive never had makeup done there but I definately trust her! Maybe a trial would be a good idea. As for clothes..your on your own!! I have no clue where to go for that except Rubys in Tysons :- Good luck!

I went to one last year and I didn't see any make up trials offered the only thing I saw offered was sample peices of cake at one table. Most of the stuf there was photographers and videographers .. a few decorators.. and also a few vendors selling some very very pretty and super expensive wedding outfits.. They had a fasion show later on that you had to pay to attend that I did not go to. That is my experience :)
