I'm planning on starting my own business and am keen on using Islam as my frame of reference for all business dealings.

Using someone else's interpretation of Islamic business ethics may not be the wisest thing for an entreprenuer. I would suggest you abide by the laws of the country that you are operating your business in, and use your own ethical judgements when you make certain decisions. Only you are responsible for your actions, so you should do what you feel is right.
