Why did Caliph Uthman appoint members of his family to politcal posts all over the Islamic Empire? It is very interesting, considering that Bani Ummaya was banished from Makkah for ten years by Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Coincidentally, these relatives turned out to have very profitable positions in the near future of the Ummayad Empire, such as Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan and Marwan. (Like the caliphate, and governorship over Kufa).

Im just asking, because every one around here keeps swears aversion to nepotism and dynasties and I wouldnt want to be the one to mess up somebody's oath.
