Can/Will Punjab men Marry outside there own Kind?

This is a Question that has been taking over my mind...
I am Bengali....from Bangladesh, and I really like someone from Pakistan, he is Punjab.
Grew up here....and I wonder....do Paki/Panjab men Marry out side there own?
Why or WHY NOT??
I have come across MANY Paki and/or Punjab men who DON'T, and I wonder why this mentality is there...
Isn't it First important to have a GOOD Muslim Wife/Husband, someone you connect to and can also comply with your family.
We ARE NOT that different!!
NOT AT ALL!!
SO whats the Problem!!

Hi!!!

Well...i agree w/ the parent thing.....and..its all the matter of "ego of the parents" or however u want to take it.....but i dont think any parents would want to ruin their kids lives by going after the whole "punjabi" or whatever thing......Personally.......i would not have a problem with an outsider but i would kinda prefer to be in my own.....'eh..so its a 50/50 thing, not all punjabis are bad and not all the 'others' are bad...!!!! so just live u're life!

I think most of the "parents" or I should say older generation has a prob. mixing with other cultures because of language and ofcourse cultural diff. because they are acustomed to doing things in a way and are not willing to change. I don't think its an issue with the newer generation though and thats what all matters. Parents always have issues with any new thing you would do anyways.

i have to agree with Mount-Real; punjabi parents are usually the issue when it comes to cross-culture marriages. im punjabi, and im happy that my parents aren't like that. good luck though sis.

Mil - I have a lot of Punjabi freinds who married out or their own. Its cultural thing, but not a religious thing. Most new generation today is not following such stupid thing.

I m not even a punjabi, im Hydro, but i have alot of Punjabi friends, and many of them do not marry outside of their culture, simply because many of their PARENTS will not support it, or simply cut them out. BUt again, this does not represent all punjabis,i think it really comes down to ones family background (this is the hydro case as well). But i agree that regardless of your culture or skin color, its all about finding that right muslim wife/or husband...
