central asian prayer
I recently had the opportunity to teach a neighbour of mine how to pray. She is from Central Asia and her grandparents and parents were strong in the communist party so they never taught her about prayer. They told her that she's Muslim in the heart. The only thing she knew about prayer was that you need to bathe and that it's better not to dry all the water off. I told her that being Muslim is about your actions, your tongue, your body, your mind... After learning two short suras she prayed fajr by herself (I was away) and then she started crying. She says that prayer has changed her life alhamdulillah. Now she's going to try to get her husband to pray too inshallah. I still wonder how many Muslims are out there that don't know how to pray and I wonder what should women do if their husbands don't pray. Any suggestions?

I HAD THE MONEY AND THE SO CALLED PERSONALITY AND WAS ALWAYS KNOWN TO BE THE HEART OF THE PARTY!
TWO YEARS AGO I MET A MAN THROUGH NASEEB, WHO WAS RELIGIOUS AND KIND TO ME, HE CARED SO MUCH FOR ME AND ALWAYS WAS AROUND ME WHEN I FELT DOWN.
AS TIME WENT PAST HE BECAME MY BEST FRIEND AND I STARTED TO TRUST HIM AND TELL HIM ABOUT MYSELF.
MY NASEEB FRIEND SLOWLY INTRODUCED ME TO PRAYER, I USED TO PRAY WHEN I WAS YOUNG, BUT LEFT PRAYING AND ISLAM, ALTHOUGH I KNEW ALLAH WAS UPSET WITH ME, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!
I STARTED GOING TO THE MOSQUE WITH MY FRIEND AND HE'D WAIT FOR ME ON THE MOSQUE GROUNDS WHEN I FINISHED PRAYING, HE STARTED TO GIVE ME SMALL SURAT TO READ AND TALKS ABOUT ISLAM.
MY FRIEND PRAYED 5 TIMES A DAY AND ALWAYS ATTENDED CLASSES AND WAS ALSO PART OF ISLAMIC GROUPS!!!
NOW 2 YEARS LATER, I HAVE STARTED PRAYING MORE AND READ MORE AND I MARRIED MY FRIEND, WHO IS NOW MY HUSBAND AND STILL HE SLOWLY TEACHES ME AND TELLS ME WHAT I NEED TO DO/KNOW.
MANY PAKISTANI PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO PRAY OR ANYTHING ABOUT ISLAM, I KNOW THAT ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT THEY MOTHERS WILL ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAILURE OF THE CHILD'S ISLAMIC STUDIES!
Happy the wife who sees her husband?s firmness in religion and becomes pious so as not to lose her eternal friend.
Alas for the man who becomes dissolute, which will lose him for ever that righteous woman.
Alas for the woman who does not follow her pious husband and loses her eternal blessed friend.
And a thousand woes on the unhappy husband and wife who imitate each other in sin and vice, helping one another to enter Hell-fire!
Yes, I do wonder how many muslims there are that never learned how to pray.
My advice to someone who wishes to encourage her husband to pray, or for anyone for that matter, is to pray for them.
Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him, his family, and companions) was asked, ?What prayer is most virtuous, after the obligatory prayers?? He said, ?Prayer in the depths of the night.?
I suggest to this woman that she get up in the hour before dawn and pray 2 rakat, and ask Allah to guide her husband, and to help her encourage her husband to pray.
May Allah bless her for her efforts, and may He guide us all to the straight path. Ameen.
