Comebacks To "Why Aren't You Married Yet?"

You haven't asked yet.

I was hoping to do something meaningful with my life.

Because I just love hearing this question.

Just lucky, I guess.

It gives my mother something to live for.

My fiancee is awaiting his/her parole.

I'm still hoping for a shot at Miss/Mr. America.

I'm waiting until I get to be your age.

It didn't seem worth a blood test.

I already have enough laundry to do, thank you. Because I think it would take all the spontaneity out of dating.

I wouldn't want my parents to drop dead from sheer happiness.

What? And lose all the money I've invested in running personal ads?

I don't want to have to support another person on my paycheck.

Why aren't you thin?

I'm married to my career, although recently we have been considering a trial separation.

Hi Shirin,

These are really funny comebacks! Thanks for sharing them. The comeback I always used for people who were asking when I'm going to get married but didn't really care either way or didn't even try or offer to help in this regard is as follows: "Oh auntie" or "Oh uncle" or "Oh whomever" - "How can you get married without a groom?"

I read this somewhere in another pind...
Auntie nudges nephew at a wedding and said "Soon, it will be your turn eh?"

Nephew gets sick of hearing this at every wedding... so he waits for the next major event that brings extended family together - FUNERAL

Nephew nudges Auntie at funeral and said "Soon, it will be your turn, eh?"

I have told Aunties who ask that I am simply waiting for my herpes to clear up before I look again. It works everytime!

Oh now I remember that dude...boy he was pretty freaky and scary...yuck!!!

Yup, you are right, they did have Akshay in the movie as well. They all were singing and dancing in the movie together. I thought the movie was pretty good. They were showing the movie on the Sundance channel few months back...

Killer Khalsa...rokinee...

No no. That was Rokinee/Rocky. Killer Khalsa was the huge dude that the girl's father brought home for her daughter's marriage.
Yeah, the main character was Rahul Khanna. Vinod Khanna's son and Akshey Khanna's brother. They even had a line for Akshey Khanna where he says, "he's like a brother to me" to Rahul.

Sweet_Pukhtana: You should see the movie "Bend It Like Beckham." What you just described is a scene right out of that movie. Check it out.
