i have never doubted the power of prayers but i also believe that God has already determined our life partner. I firmly believe when the right person inshallah does make an appearance in my life i will know. God will let me know, my heart will tell me to what path to follow. If u are an honest person and a good human being then I believe God will always give u the best. As far as standards go, I was joking about setting high standards. Allah will give u ur hearts desire and will show u wat path to follow.

I negotiate with people and try to reach a mutually acceptable deal. But when i am talking to God (or asking God for something) I stick to my 'best' :)

And ofcourse your best isn't my best. or anybody else's. So i agree with the second part of your post about men. When I say best, I mean whatever is 'the best' by your own standards.

No the best is what we think is the best according to our own personal standards. Perfection is something different. We, with our limited mental and other resources, probably can't even dream perfection. What we think is perfect has already been limited by the limitations of our thought processes, so it certainly isn't perfect. And with all honsetly, i can say i don't accept anything less than i ask for (which is my best). I live by the philosophy that when you refuse to accept anything less than the best (i.e. what you want), you end up getting the best. However, it has nothing to do with being stubborn or uncompromising, it is strongly tied to the other part of my philosophy that when you ask for something (i am assuming we all ask for things from God), you shouldn't limit your demands, not because you just want to be stubborn, but because He , with all his limitlessness, is capable of giving you the best. And He does! :) I strongly believe in the power of prayers.

We always aim for the best and the best is perfect and nothing in this world is perfect so even though we wont admit it we all do settle for less, and we just may not accept it. As far as men go, there are a million kind of men out there...if a man is good for me doesnt mean he will be good for u or for the next person. Its almost like wearing a certain colour...not all colours suit a person...does this make any sense? i dont know my mind is fuzzy and im just writing and writing for no reason i guess passing time waiting

Yes, there is a supply demand imbalance which has grown even more severe because the products being supplied don't meet the quality standards of the demand side :)
