Does anyone have suggestions for the best products out there for curly hair??? I hate the friz! HELP!!!

i would recommend putting some olive oil in your hair, walking around a busy polluted city after a day or two, then perhaps wash your hair if enough smog/dirt has collected... works for me everytime ;)

My hair is actually not that bad, I just like my hair looking extra good all the time. Sometimes straight sometimes curly depends on the mood :)

Staphaureus, as I mentioned before I didnt notice any damage to my hair. As far as split ends go, my secret for that is to put condition on the tips when showering.

If you live in NYC...I heard that in China Town you can get Japanese Straightening for about $200. A friend of mine drives from Westchester just to get her hair done there.

It could run anywhere from $300 - $1000. I had mine done in Brooklyn $400. A few of my friends did it in Queens. The desi salon by my home actually does it also. I saw the owners it looked good, they are probably cheaper too. Are you coming to six flags??????

Thanks Onlyapp! I have seen a few salons in NYC which are pretty expensive ($500) where have you gone to get it done? How much does this sort of thing average $$!

Snakesss, It does not dry our hair out. My hair is back to its orginial texture now but I dont have any damage. I myself wont be straightning again because I dont think the pin straight hair looks good with my face, but quite a few of my friends have had it done and will be doing it again and will have had it done more then once. So its really worth it!

Wow...thanks Snakessss...I actually do go to an Aveda Salon, but havent been in a while..and I always have them blow it straight...next Time I will ask them to help me style it curly.

If I can get into the city (I live 40 min North)...I may just try your recommendation.

Onlyaap26--Does the Japenese treatment make your hair dry at all? Does it fall more etc? Any damage--I have super curly hair-which is a little dry and I have been considering this option so just wondered..

The aveda Be Cury will let you finger twirl your hair so that it can look like Oprah's. You should go to a salon which is an aveda based/trained salon and have them cut and do it up. They will know how to style your hair best. Make sure you go to a stylist who knows how to cut curly hair--you can ask them before you make an appointment--if you are based out of NYC go to Parlor (ave b between 7 and 6) and go to Gina--she is amazing

I actually always had thick hair with a wave to it. Now its just plain raggety ann curly. I havent straightened it in about a year. I guess I could still blow it straight and use a flat iron to make it look like me in the picture you see.

For the past year I put it into a very high ponytail...which looks nice. But I can not wear it down without it looking totally unkept. I Love the way Oprah's hair looks curly and would love to have mine look like that (but I dont have the privilage of having someone comb it for me daily)...thats why I was asking for suggestions...wanted to know what people have tried that actually works. I have so far bought 7 products that didnt work at all for me.

Are you looking to keep it straight all the time?? I had typical desi hair not straight no curly just plain ol' fuzz and finally about 2 years ago i had the japenese straighting done and it was amazing. But keep in mind it gets it pin straight, kind of like flat iron straight. But the time it saved me on the morning blow drying, flat ironing or curlers was amazing!! After my shower I would dry it without a brush for a minute (and even thats just because i didnt want to go out with wet hair) and be on my way, and my hair was straight shiny and silky. So japenese straighting is an option.
