Day 11, Ramadan Message (Ramadan Night)

In the name of Allah, the Source of all Mercy, the Mercy Giver

Golden Gems?
?Establish worship at the going down of the sun until the dark of night, and (the recital of) the Qur'an at dawn. Lo! (the recital of) the Qur'an at dawn is ever witnessed.? (Qur'an 17 verse 78)

?Pure & Precious Pearl?
THE NIGHTS OF RAMADAN
The month of Ramadan is the month of great gains and profits. The Muslim must make judicious use of these magnificent days and tranquil nights of this virtuous month to move closer to Allah. Indeed, ??the rising by night (for tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing oneself, and most suitable for (understanding) the Word of Allah.? (Qur'an 73 verse 6)

Allah has made fasting during the days of Ramadan and spending its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward a means of forgiveness of sins. The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said: ?Allah has people whom He redeems every day and night in Ramadan? (Ahmad)

The Ramadan nights are the best. Generally, the best time to show one?s humility before Allah is the later period of the night and ?the best salaah after the prescribed salaah is the salaah observed in the middle of the night? (Muslim). How can the Muslim not be desperate to desire to accrue such immense benefit for himself? Didn?t the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: ?every night, there is a special time during which whatever a Muslim asks Allah of any good relating to this life or the hereafter, it?ll be granted to him and this moment comes every night.? (Muslim)

The nights of Ramadan is a great opportunity to seek refuge with Allah and turn to Him engaging in various acts of worship ? dhikr, tahajjud, tilawah (reading Qur?an), for the peacefulness and tranquillity of the night gives the heart time to reflect and one is overwhelmed with a unique tenderness of the heart and during these hours, Allah descends to the nearest heaven, in the last third of the night and asks: ?Is there anyone who seeks My forgiveness so that I can forgive him??

While, fasting (abstinence from eating, drinking, sexual activities etc) ends at sunset and we are encouraged to go about our normal duties after iftar , sadly, some people make the mistake of changing their nights into days by staying awake all night and resorting to all kind of idle pursuits through out the night-chatting, watching movies, wining and dining etc. or even sleep through out the night to the extent that they will almost miss sahuur or Fajr not to talk of waking up for Tahajjud !

The nights of this blessed month are a great opportunity for goodness, baraka , worship and obedience towards Allah. A Muslim must be on guard against any act that may cause him to lose the benefits of his fast especially during the nights when the devils among mankind are more active in promoting evil things and acts of immorality to those who have been fasting all day. Be warned: ?Perhaps a fasting person will get nothing from his fast save hunger, and perhaps the one who stands to pray at night will get nothing from his standing except sleeplessness.? (Nasa?i)

?Rare Gems
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ?Allah has people whom He redeems every day and night in Ramadan.? (Ahmad)
