De battre mon coeur s'est arr?t? ('The beat that my heart skipped')
It's always really interesting to see how an actor matures and how they fit into different roles. This is the third film I've seen starring Romain Duris and it is another great accomplishment for the young actor.
The beat that my heart skipped is a story of a man who is in the business of acquiring cheap properties. He and his partners have many ways in driving people out and pulling down prices for good purchases and profits for themselves. He also does a bit of work for his father, collecting unpaid rents... One day he spots his mother's old manager (she was a concert pianist) and his heart skips a beat when he's invited to audition (on the assumption that he's kept up his work and extended his prodigy-like talents). He is excited about the opportunity to audition, and he takes on a Chinese tutor who teaches him through a tough regime, neither of them speaking the other's language.
The film shows a multi-dimensional character, someone who has something about them that you just wouldnt expect from those opening scenes.
