Destination Weddings
Someday, I want a destination wedding, Inshallah. What about you???
You're right Sonia. I guess whenever I think red, I think lots and lots of work on it...wedding red that is.
Will someone get married already so that I can get all decked out for the wedding???!!!!!!
I like the idea of getting married by the ocean (I've already told my friend, who is a designer, that she's going to have to make me a not-red desi wedding lehnga or whatever it is brides wear if I end up getting married by the ocean. I think red might clash with the ocean, don't you?!). I'll let you know Choco!!!!!
I love how I'm planning my wedding without a potential groom in mind! LOL!
My friend recently got married in the Fiji Islands.. I dont know why the hell he decided to go there ! Anyway.... the only people there were his immediate family, and the girls family and then there was me !
Even though you may think that its exotic as it may sound ! I spent 3 days in a "hut"... reminded me of the shanti towns in Brazil...
It cost him near enough ?8000 for the 4 days, including flights and accomodation for his family.
But the irony of it was that when he got back.. he threw another function.. (Walima)... for the people who could not attend... so where's the sense in that ! Should have stayed at home...... and attended the Walima.. was much more fun !
Ramsey, how do you assume that? You assume correctly, of course. I actually am such a nazi when it comes to planning/organizing things; does that come across on naseeb? My family and friends are already on edge about the thought of my wedding (groom still to be determined, of course). Hahaha.
i dont subscribe to the notion that only people who care will show up. some people have jobs, families, and careers that they may not be able to leave.
Yes, I think a wedding in Pakistan (especially if both bride and groom are Pakistani-Americans) is definitely a destination wedding. A friend of a friend, a Pakistani girl, recently married a caucausian boy and their wedding was in Karachi. The boy's family, the girl's family and their friends--a group that looked like the UN--attended. Heard it was awesome. They had the mehndi on the beach and a ton of festivities. That is definitely a destination wedding in my opinion.
It depends on the destination - some places don't change an arm and a leg in hotel expenses, so it's mainly the plane ticket. And if most of your family is coming in from out of town anyway, it won't matter to them where you have your wedding.
