God is changeless,so our prayers have no effect on him.So why we prayer??Becasue our prayers have an effect on us.Each time we prayer,it reminds us tht we live in a loving universe,and tht a Divine Spark glows within our soul.Saying a prayer can be like picking up the telephone and communicating with God.
Finally i can say it can be source of strength,comfort, and inspiration...

we have our share of hardship/ bad days.. do tehy make us more religious ? or are we too obstinate to pray regularly despite even those. i think people who pray and live longer as one of the studies i googled said were regular churchgoers anyway.. whether thats because they were healthier to start with or for some other reason is unexplained..... you cant decide whether or not you should be praying based on science or statistics!
Another view: people usually pray when they are suffering. Do people pray when they are happy? And what positive effect, if any, does it have? Thats a topic for another scientific study, and thus would lead to another paper in a prestigious journal and further a scientists career ! (H)

In these instances even 10 million studies etc. refuting that prayer dosn't help means absolutely nothing.
this study attempted to measure prayer for people over distances, and the person suffering has no knowledge that people are praying for him...
'No one single study is ever going to provide an answer," said Jeffery Dusek of Harvard Medical School, who helped lead the study being published in the April 4 issue of the American Heart Journal.
This is precisely why MOST SCIENTISTS don't give a jack-a$$ about these types of studies.
There are other weakness inherit in this study as well. For example, how can we really say the intensity of the prayer of a person un-connected to the one suffering was that deep? The fact that they are not really connected to the one suffering is a huge factor in determining whether a prayer can really be effective or not. It is not necessarily about the quantity of people praying.
The researchers cautioned that the study was not designed to test the existence of God or the benefit of other types of prayer, such as praying for oneself or at bedsides of friends or relatives. They also did not rule out that other types of distant prayer may be effective for other types of patients.
The fact of the matter is those that want to read into this article a blow to religion, are being just as dogmatic as a person arguing that prayer will cure every illness. God's answer to a prayer is not always 'dictated' by what a person may perceive it to be.

I am not saying every single person to land and settle on there was not a religion follower. What im saying is the foundations on which it was established, the foundations on which the american dream came to be was not "under one God" which came later.
Hundreds of thousands of chinese, desis, Africans came from around the world as well as the whites.
America has never been a catholic/christian country. Its just the image that is so well assumed.
the three/free masonary along with protestants were religious branches.
But the same way america was NOT founded on democracy, it was NOT founded on religion.
