Are Arabs in your community also scared/disgusted by dogs? For one, I am a little scared of them, and of course, because of the fact that they are unclean according to Islam (we must make wudu' 7 times if we touch one, I believe), I'm a bit disgusted by them. I'm not as scared as I used to be cause I heard they can smell fear, and if you act scared and start running or something, they will chase you. I try to play it cool but I won't get out of my car if there's a dog standing right there. If I go to someone's house who has a dog, I"ll ask them to hold it back or put it in a different room. what about all of you? Scared of/disgusted by dogs? Is it an Arab thing, like I've heard some people say?

Aouicha "pit bulls" can be very dangerous and only allowed in very few states as house pets. Just couple weeks ago a 12 year old child was killed by a pit bull here in Northern California. The story is very sad his mom stepped out to run some errands so she put her kid in a room and the 2 pit bulls in another but the kid managed to leave his room to where the dogs were mating and the minute the male dog saw the kid attacked him out of jealousy as it thought the kid was competing with him for the female.

CAARABGUY..."pit bull" are cute tooo...the problem is with their owner..wallahi haram 3laihoum...

I'm highly annoyed by dogs.

dogs in their homes? wow ive never seen that, especally in syria! yeah i do agree they do help with many issues...but using dogs for a 'healing process' to me is somewhat unnescessary, but ppl here do not believe the dog to be najas

Salam a lot of ppl back home have dogs in their homes but the breed is quite different from what we have here in the US. Mainly German Shepards. Dogs are awesome if they are cared for for the right reasons such as helping the handicapped, guarding and assisting in police work as well as rescue missions. A friend of mine is in the medical field and he tells me that dogs are also used in the treatment of cancer patients in the healing process.

lol I remember when a relative from syria of mine would see a dog...yalateef...its like they saw the most disgusting creature in the world..then when i tell them hes soo cute! they think im nuts! lool the only thing gross about a dog is when he starts drooling and whats even more disgusting is when the dogs drooling all over some dude! 'slirp slirp' ewwww! lool

i used to fear them badly, but now not so bad and i find them really cute :) still scared of them though and a bit disgusted so i don't touch. yes laila i think its an arab thing, back home all the dogs are stray dogs....

I am not scared by dogs. I love them, but as they are unclean, never had one...:(, btw, i did not know about making wuddu 7 times!!! i thought that it was only one, anyway, my mother cannot stand them... Maybe it depends on the environment u grew in...

i like dogs, grew up with them all my life. we even had one in falasteen. a little brown one named zamour. he got run over by a car :(
